On the second weekend of rugby for Devizes Rugby Club in 2018 there is plenty at stake with three senior men's sides in action and our Ladies side also resuming their league campaign.

The Saddlebacks will take lots of positives in the defeat away at Marlborough last weekend, where a 31-10 defeat did not tell the whole story in a close battle.  Devizes will be looking to take those positive elements into Saturday's home match against Blandford, who are currently propping up the league with just one win from eleven matches.  Bizarrely enough, Devizes haven't played a home fixture since the cup semi final against Sherborne towards the end of November, so will be looking forward to home comforts.  Blandford were a tricky opposition in September's meeting down in Dorset, after a tough first half an hour or so, Devizes pulled away, playing some scintillating rugby to come out 45-24 victors.  Blandford will be looking to make it a similar contest to last season's fixture, where they went away with a 15-15 draw.

The 2nd XV travel to a strong Swindon College Old Boys 2nds on Saturday as they look to put a disappointing defeat against Combe Down 2nds last weekend behind them.  This will be a tough test for Bill and his men, but they should relish it having put in some good performances against Swindon College in the reverse league fixture and in the cup.

After last week's run out against Warminster 2nds, the 3rd XV face Chippenham 3rds AT HOME looking to continue to play social rugby!  Any players looking for a game please do get in touch with the club, as we can always accommodate.

All kick offs on Saturday are scheduled for 2.15pm.

On Sunday, the Ladies resume league action with an away trip to strugglers Chipping Sodbury.  This is a game our Ladies won convincingly in the home reverse fixture earlier in the season, however will be looking to pick up a couple of early wins in 2018 after finishing 2017 with a couple of hard fought defeats.  2pm kick off for that one in Gloucestershire.

Please come along and support all teams this coming weekend.  If you want to play, get in touch, we will get you a game!
