The inaugural Saddleback Blues Festival took place last Saturday on a baking hot July day.  The one day festival was a resounding success with 9 superb Blues bands playing, including the fantastic Elles Bailey, Jo Harman, Lisa Mills, The Red Hot Trio and The Boom Band.

Organiser Rick Kibby said: “The day went off extremely well and we’re relieved everything went to plan! We started it because we wanted to be part of Devizes’ growing music scene and raise some money for charity at the same time.

“About 500 people came along, which is great. You never know what to expect the first time you hold something like this so it was very encouraging. It was a sunny day, the atmosphere was superb and people’s feedback has been 100% positive.

“Thanks to everyone who came, to the rugby and sports clubs and to all the volunteers who helped.”

The bands playing at the festival were Red Hot Trio, The Lightnin’ Hobos, Poplar Jake, Ruzz Guitar’s Blues Revue, Lisa Mills, Elles Bailey, Jo Harman and The Boom Band, fronted by accomplished blues musician, Jon Amor.

Jon told the organisers: “The atmosphere was really lovely. You really created a great family vibe, and I feel very sure everybody who went will go away and tell their friends they had a really enjoyable experience which will stand you in good stead for next year.

“Congratulations be proud of yourselves, you did Devizes proud. All the Boom guys genuinely enjoyed it - it was a pleasure."

Thank you to all of the volunteers who supported the day on car parking, security, tickets, information desk.  To the organisers, Rick Kibby, Rick O'Shea, Mirko, Emma Wright and Dave Whatling - phenomenal planning and kudos for pulling it off without a hitch!  The Devizes Sports Club bar staff, thank you for your hospitality and to the paying public - we hope you enjoyed it and we hope to go one bigger and better next year!
