Here's the first guidance from Joe Alford, or DoR, on our return to rugby at the end of March - thanks to Joe and all the R2R guys for their continued hard work.
- Teams that train midweek can begin from 29th March. The first Sunday available is 4th April (Easter Sunday).
- The RFU have only released stage overviews and not details at this point. I suggest for now we assume that we return on 29th March to the same logistics as before e.g. ball sanitising, session booking, facilities, training times etc. As and when the RFU update guidance I will send further detail.
- You will see our plan adheres to each stage's guidance, but does not always go to the limit of it. The reasons are two-fold: a) we have to manage the club's resources, particularly pitches, and b) a full summer of rugby followed by a full 21/22 season would mean over 12 months of non stop rugby - not very sensible.
- Following the last point, the focus is on re-engagement and re-conditioning players to ensure we thrive in a safe and effective 21/22 season.
- This all assumes an uninterrupted government road map!
Coaches and managers: any questions regarding the timeline please get in touch with Joe, Del or Chris B. They will be sending stage details as soon as they receive them from the RFU.
