APPEAL FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR JUNIOR CHAIR ROLE

Dear Parents & Guardians,

As previously announced, I will be stepping down as your Junior Chair at the end of the season. lt has been a huge privilege as well as pleasure to have led the Juniors for the last two and half years but I need to step back ahead of a major career change; therefore, someone or perhaps some people on a shared basis are urgently needed to take on the responsibilities of Junior Chair.

The role is not difficult and no rugby qualifications are required. All the hard work is done by our superb group of volunteers, to whom we owe huge thanks for their coaching, team management and support to our players under the guidance of our strong Junior Committee.

At a day-to-day level the Chair's role is perhaps more akin to being a conductor, orchestrating junior rugby at the Club through co-ordinating the weekly routine and the planning of key activities during the season. There are well-established routines for almost everything whether it is the pitch allocation on a Sunday, the co-ordination of matches, or special events such as Remembrance Sunday and the end of season celebration. The coaches have all the kit needed to deliver the training which, along with the superb pitches, catering and facilities are provided by the Club.

Beyond the day-to-day routine, being able to offer all girls and boys in our community an awareness and the enjoyment of the game, then building on it through their teenage years is a really exciting part of the role. lt brings tremendous opportunities to enhance Junior rugby at the Club and across our local area. Mixed rugby finishes at Under 11 so it has been great this season to re-establish senior girls rugby in the dual Under 11/12 and Under 13/14 age groups, which will be expanding to include Under 15/16 from September.

We are working with a number of primary schools, hosting another summer tournament for them and, following-on from the much-enjoyed 'Six Nations Super Saturday'Juniors Club afternoon, looking to hold more such Devizes RFC 'rugby family'events. So, if you would like your daughter or son to continue to enjoy the fantastic rugby opportunities offered by the Club and think you might be able to take on the Junior Chair role or perhaps offer your assistance in a supporting capacity, please get in touch with me directly or through the Club at ruqbvfQdevizesrfc..com. We could then perhaps have a chat about this really fulfilling role, during which lwould welcome any questions about it.

Yours,

Chris Long
