Dear Club Members, Players, Supporters, Coaches & Sponsors,
The abrupt end to the season should not take away from what has been another year of positive progress on the pitch for Devizes Rugby Club.
The men's 1st XV achieved their goal of a top four finish, and though the Development XV were denied the opportunity to push for promotion in the final weeks of the season, fourth place is an improvement on the 2018/19 season and leaves both teams well placed to challenge for the league title next year. The ladies excellent fourth place finish in a very tough league rounds off top four finishes for all senior teams. It was also great to see the men's Social XV have a couple of outings, and we will be looking for further fixtures next season.
The junior section continues to grow and improve - the Devizes RFC Academy's inaugural season was a success, with a near full fixture list and a place in the Dorset and Wilts vase final, which we would hope they would have won! The Under 15's had another successful season and will miss the opportunity to defend their Dorset and Wilts title in the cancelled cup final. I am looking forward to their players and coaches joining the Academy set up next season.
I would like to say a massive thanks to the coaches, volunteers, supporters and players that made this season's progress possible - here's to a restful, if not unusually long off-season, and I look forward to the hard work beginning again in pre-season.
Joe
